Allen Frame’s work has always been an influence to me due to the subtlety. The work I was first drawn to was of the people he knew closely during the 90’s. Documents of who was with him in a way where it seems he wasn’t even there. Mainly made with the use of a single sourced light, deep tones, and grain - They are sensitive yet strong, simple and informative.
His more current work from a year long residency he served in Italy last year drew me in with his use of color and balance of the scene and figure. They are shown alongside a collection of pictures he owns that contribute to the narrative.
Seeing him and his work again was a refreshing and informative. His work is worth seeing in person to understand how they fit together.
